Midi skirts were all over the runway this season, with the mini skirt being pushed aside in favour of a more ladylike length. The celebrities have caught on to the trend, both on the red carpet and for casual wear, with full skirts and fitted.
Something to be wary of with this look is that it can shorten the legs, so if you’re petite stick with a block colour (like Gemma Arterton above) rather than breaking it up. Here are a few of my favourite mid-calf skirts and dresses so you can recreate the look yourselves, but at a high street price.

This full girly skirt also comes in black, for those less daring. It’s ideal for shorter legs as it isn’t as long as most skirts, but is still below the knee and therefore keeping the ladylike appearance.
This cute dress comes in Peach Morris Print and a wrap around style in Blue Chambray. It’s gorgeous for a garden party, BBQ or summertime date. Team it with a simple cream cardigan and some tan sandals to complete the look.
This fitted dress is designed in the style of Victoria Beckham and comes in a wide range of colours, some are in the sale for £32.00 – so go have a look! This classy yet sexy dress is long, but has a low cut cleavage, so you can show off your assets. Style with a pair of killer heels for a dinner date or a special day at the office.
With a high neck, but open back and a shimmer to the fabric, this dress is bound to turn heads. The length is perfect for ladies who like to show off their slender calfs and the cute bow detail on the back adds a little something extra. I would wear this dress with bare legs and sky-high nude/beige heels. It also looks great with tights as the model wears it, but the all in one black look doesn’t give off a very spring/summer vibe.
In a variety of colours, there is a choice for everyone with this skirt. I like that the bottom half is sheer, so you can still show off your legs while staying on trend. The pleating is also very delicate and ladylike. Team it with a simple white vest top and some chunky bangles or a long necklace. Or for a more formal look, tuck in an oversized white shirt… Try to keep it simple so as not the make the pleats look fussy and overdone.
