While I am in no way close to having a baby of my own, it’s getting to that time where some of my friends are getting pregnant and starting families. I’ve never planned a Baby Shower before, so naturally I turned to Pinterest and Etsy for help in finding cute details and ideas of how to make the day extra special. I thought I would share some of these ideas with you…

As ever with me, all ideas are great for those on a budget or trying to do something super cute and homemade! For this particular baby shower I was helping to plan, they know that the baby is going to be a little girl, but didn’t want it to be super pink and girly. Therefore I thought that purple and mint were lovely colours to chose to make it pretty and cute without being really girly. They also have the nursery all decorated and ready for the little one and it’s ‘Under the sea’ theme – so this helped to guide the theme for decs and food…

Sticking loosley with the baby shower/under the sea theme, I found some super cute decorations which you can buy already made and some that you can create yourself! The great thing is that the decs are so cute you can then use them in the nursery too! I love the jellyfish lanterns and cute purple and green bunting – which you can make yourself so easily at home (post coming soon for this)!

Everyone LOVES a tissue paper pom-pom at the moment and I’m no different – I found a super cute pic online where they have used white pompoms to make a cloud with pastel rain drops – a cute way to dress up a table where gifts can be placed.

  1. Hot Air Balloon Garland – £10.93 – Etsy
  2. Jellyfish Paper Lanterns, Set of 4 – £30.40 -Etsy
  3. Tissue Paper Pom Poms – From 99p – eBay

Games are a MUST at a baby shower – here are a few ideas for how to add some silliness and excitement to your shower to make it memorable.

Baby Quiz – This can include several rounds, such as…

  1. Guess the baby – a picture round with pictures of famous people, mixed in with images of the parents as babies.
  2. Unscramble the baby words – Compile a list of typical baby words and scramble them all up for the quizzers to solve – eg. LIMK – MILK. TOBTLE – BOTTLE. YGBAROWB – BABYGROW and so on.
  3. General Baby Knowledge – Including interesting trivia such as the average weight of a newborn baby, the most popular brand of buggies, the heaviest baby ever born, etc…

Pin the Nappy on the baby – The same as pin the tail on the donkey, but you have to try and get the nappy on the baby. Or you could alternatively do pin the dummy on the baby…

Diaper Derby – On your mark, get set, go! Divide your guests into teams and hand each team a roll of toilet paper. Give the teams five minutes to wrap a team member up in a loo roll nappy. The team with the most creatively diapered ‘baby’ wins!

Messy Eaters – Split your group into teams of 2 – one sits on a chair wearing a bib and with their hands behind their back. The second is then blindfolded and crouches behind the other team member, looping their arms through #1s arms. The blindfolded partner then has to try and feed chocolate mousse (or yoghurt) to the ‘baby’ – the first  pair to finish the whole pot of mousse wins!

Guess the weight of the baby – Everyone is given a piece of paper – this can be cute and pretty paper – and writes down their prediction for the baby’s weight when he or she is born. If you don’t know the sex of the baby, you can also guess this. The person who guessed the closest once the baby is born wins a prize!

So fishy crackers are a MUST for an under the sea theme – obviously!! Then star shaped cookies with little starfish details are also super cute and easy! I love the Hummingbird bakery Sugar Cookies recipe – you can then use star shaped cutters and get 2 colours of icing to make cute starfish dots on them like the image above 🙂

Then I thought of Guerlian chocolates, they’re super tasty and all in the shape of shells and seahorses – so perfect for a seaside themed party!! Pop them on top of cupcakes for an easy yet effective themed treat!

So there you have it, a few little ideas to get you started when planning a baby shower! Let me know if you would like any more info or tips! I have the bunting templates and quizzes all created, so I can always share 🙂

love EJ xo
