The felt hat was everywhere last year, and those who took the plunge and made the purchase will be pleased to know that it’s back this year! Last year it was all about the big floppy look, where as 2016 is all about the felt fedora. Celebs all over the world are rocking this look with casual denim, furs and over-sized handbags.

Celebs wear the Felt Fedora trend (clockwise from top left): Miranda Kerr, Elizabeth Olson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Alessandra Ambrosio.

Keep on trend with your fedora by selecting blacks, browns and muted neutral tones. Or you can jazz things up a little (I for one find myself wearing a lot of black in winter and a little pop of colour is very welcome!) with a pop of bright colour, such as the options from River Island or Boohoo below.

There are hundreds of brands out there making really lovely felt hats, some reaching into the hundreds of pounds, but I have rounded up my favourite 10 under £25, enjoy!

While for the most of us, the mad rush of summer weddings is coming to the end of the season, there is still the odd rouge winter wedding approaching… And just because it’s cold outside, it doesn’t mean we can’t be totally chic!

I personally love black and denim for autumn and winter, which aren’t totally wedding appropriate… But the good news is that there are some gorgeous navy and jewel tone gowns out there to add a splash of colour! Plus you can totally wear black to a wedding now, as long as it’s got a little pzazz – like embroidery or print.

So, I’ve trawled my favourite shopping sites for some lovely dresses that are wedding appropriate while also being a little more covered up to keep that chill away, or something you can team with tights without feeling like a wally! Oh, and I’ve split them into budget categories too, because Christmas is coming y’all and who doesn’t love a bargain?!

There are so many ways to wear one of this summer’s hottest trends – embroidery. It’s colourful, folky and therefore perfect for the summer months! One way to make sure you’re always on trend with the look? Keep the base colour basic. I love embroidery on black and white. There are loads of other colours out there, reds and blues and baby pinks, but I think the timeless looks (and easiest to style) are those that sit on black and white backgrounds.

So which side do you belong to? The dark side – with bright pinks, teals and contrasting white embroidery? Or the light side – whites and creams with bold blues, reds and black embroidery? Maybe some of my favourite options below will help you make up your mind – or show you that you like a little bit of both!

And some final top tips? Go for floral and bold and bright for an all over pattern, but tribal, basic and subtle for an embroidered trim. Also try not to over-do your outfit by wearing a heavily embroidered piece with other bold patterns and bright colours – let your embroidered item stand out and do the talking to keep things super chic!

I hope you like the lovely items I’ve pulled together – let me know if you’ve got any great embroidered items this summer and where they’re from!

I want to tell you everything…

Starting with how much I am in love with this T-shirt….

Yet again Zara have pulled out all the stops with their printed T-shirts for summer, a couple of years ago I fell in love with and purchased one printed ‘We’ll never be as young as we are now’, and this summer, it’s this one that I’ve fallen for.  GET ME TO A ZARA STORE!!

This Week’s Obsession: Zara’s Maxi dresses.

I am not ashamed to stand up and say, “My name is Emily and I am addicted to Zara.”  Every time I walk past the shop in town, I HAVE to go in. I crave it, I sit browsing online for hours, creating my dream wardrobe from all of the stunning items littering their spring/summer 2012 collection.  Yes, some of it is miles out of my humble student budget, but some pieces are very reasonably priced.  My favourite thing to look at currently are the maxi dresses.  Just gorgeous. Here are my top 5 favourites and how to wear them…

1.  Long Embroidered Dress – £49.99

This dress is gorgeous, perfect for a garden party, day in the park or a special occasion (but not a wedding).  Wear it with tan wedge sandals or simple flip flops.  I would opt for hair in loose natural waves with lashings of mascara and bronzer to keep the simple, whimsical look.

2. Printed Dress – £39.99

WANT WANT WANT!! I love this print, the colours are stunning and the shape is simple, yet flattering and will suit all shapes.  I’d wear this with some chunky gladiator sandals and a loose plait coming over the shoulder.  Perfect for a day in the park or on the beach, but you could also dress it up for a special occasion.

3. Long Draped Dress – £49.99

Something draws me to this dress, normally I am a big hater of brown, but this is just the right shade.  The pleats are very on trend and the slits add some sexy to an otherwise demure dress.  This is perfect for an evening event, wear with a skinny belt and simple strappy shoes to maintain the elegance.  The neck line of this dress begs for a classy up-do and some gorgeous smoky eyes.

4. Dress with Side Slits – £29.99

This dress is classy and elegant, whilst also being casual.  It’s easy to wear with any foot wear and for any occasion.  Dress it up with a metallic belt, sky scraper heels and some statement sparkly earrings or dress it down with flipflops and just-out-of-bed hair for everyday wear.

5. Asymmetric Dress – £49.99

I’ve always been a fan of asymmetric dresses, especially when there’s drapery involved!!  The cinched in waist is flattering and the drapery will hide a multitude of sins.  Which is why this dress is perfect with some killer heels, a gorgeous up-do and red lippy for a dinner party or evening drinks.  I have always thought that it’s better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.

Some of these may claim to be out of stock online, but I have been in Zara recently and they are still in stores, so it may just be that the online store is out of stock, but the retailers still have bundles of them. You may need to do some exploring!

Happy shopping!

Return of the Mac

This April has been especially wet and windy in the UK and unfortunately it looks like it’s not going away any time soon.  So I’ve been hunting down some lovely wet weather gear to keep us all warm and cosy when we have to venture outside.  With Mac’s this season, it’s all about camel, or if you want something darker then opt for navy or dark brown rather than black to stay on trend.  With wellies, either opt for texture, bright and bold block colours or go for something girly and floral.  Here are some of my favourites, all under £100…
