Life under the electric (blue) lights: My top 5 blue bargains

Other than orange, electric blue is the colour to be seen in this season, as well as being fresh and bright, it’s also vibrant without being too ‘out there’, so easy to mix with more of your wardrobe.  I love the bright electric blue jeans and shorts seen on many celebs at the moment, and also love the shoes! Make a statement with a simple dress and some bright blue shoes, like many celebs have done on the red carpet!

The stars love the look and now so can you, for less!  Here are my top 5 electric blue high street buys…

1. Smart City Shorts – £34.99 – River Island

I definitely think that electric blue looks best when next to black, so this little woven belt which comes with these adorable shorts is perfect.  I love the city shorts look, they look great with a simple white vest top tucked in, or with a white shirt for work.  Wear with some yummy black or tan ankle boots for a more sophisticated look.

2. Racer Back Maxi Dress – £17.99 – Missguided

I love the simplicity of this dress, with the interesting back.  It’s perfect for a day at the beach or a day shopping.  Wear with a black waist belt to make the blue really pop and add a little something extra to the look.

3. Pump It Up Suede Platform Court Shoe – £55.00 – ASOS

Heidi Klum

Just like Heidi Klum, these shoes will add extra p-zazz to a simple dress, the monochrome outfit is instantly re-vamped with these bright blue shoes and they look amazing.

Wear them like Heidi with a short dress and simple accessories (never match your accessories to your shoes with bright blue) or go for a simple white tee, black skinnies and then these shoes to jazz up the outfit.

4. Skinny Stretch Jeans – £35.99 – Zara

You cannot go wrong with a good pair of stretch jeans, and these ones incorporate the peg-trouser look, the colourblocking and electic blue trend all in one.  I love the cute turn ups at the bottom and the details on the pockets.  Please do not wear them with these shoes however – yuck!

5. Bikini – Top – £14.90, Bottoms – £9.90 – Mango

Kim Kardashian is a big fan on electric blue, get a bikini like hers from Mango.  This bikini is simple, but the colour is eye-catching and looks much brighter in the flesh, the photograph doesn’t really do it justice.  I love the idea of wearing it under a thin white summer dress with some tan gladiator-style sandals.

Top 5: Trends for SS11: Leather

A good leather jacket will never go out of fashion, but the leather trend is branching away from just jackets this season. As the runways and celebs have shown…

Emma Watson :: Jessica Alba :: Whitney Port :: Kristen Bell

Following up from my post about the wardrobe must haves for Spring/Summer 2011, here are the hottest leather looks for the season and how to wear them…

1. Black Chiffon Leather Front Tee – £45 – Topshop.

I love that this top is simple, but with the leather it has some edge and shine. It will look perfect with camel skinnies and ankle boots, or dress it up for a night out with a mini skirt, chunky bangles and sky-high heels.

2. One Teaspoon Studded Leather Jacket – £190 – Asos.com

This jacket is half price at the moment on Asos.com, and how can you resist a real leather bargain like this? I love the studded detail, it adds a tougher feel without looking tacky. The cropped jacket is also in again this season, so it will go with everything. I love leather jackets to toughen up floral girly dresses with boots, or with skinny jeans and vest tops to vamp up a simple day look.

3. Jersey Hooded Biker Gilet – £24.99 – New Look

Black (Black) Jersey Hooded Biker Gilet | 210459901 | New Look

This leather-look gilet/vest is perfect for those looking for the leather look on a budget. Gilet’s are everywhere for the transition from Winter to Spring and this one is comfy and casual while still keeping a biker edge. It looks cute as the model wears it with a jumper and jeans, or it could look cute with a light floral dress, black tights and chunky boots.

4. Renewal Re-made Leather Skirt – £45 – Urban Outfitters.

I love the structuring of this skirt, it’s a simple shape but the V in the front adds character and the pockets are cute. Each item from the Urban Renewal collection is made up of carefully selected items from around the world that bring the past to the present. I love the way the model wears it, with a simple white tee and black tights, this could work with a part of killer heels for a night out, or with a comfy cardigan and boots for a day look. Also try contrasting the tough leather with a light chiffon top.

5. Bomber Faux Leather Jacket – £21.50 – Forever 21

I love this jacket, it’s simple and easy to wear, plus it won’t break the bank! I also love the way it’s been styled on the model, with the soft nude skirt contrasting the tough black leather. Forever 21 is fast becoming one of my favourite online stores, it’s such great value and they have some really nice items! Check out my top 5 Forever 21 items here.

Endless Style

Endless (or eternity) scarves are all over the place at the moment, and are the perfect compliment to any outfit to add a touch of cosiness! Especially with all the snow the UK’s getting! If they’re good enough for Jessica Alba and Blake Lively, then they’re good enough for us girlies!

1. Cowel Scarf – £19.50 – GAP

This snug, thick scarf is perfect for trips out in the snow and the range of colours offers a wide choice. I love the rich ‘constellation blue’ colour and am putting it high on my Christmas list!!

The beauty of these scarfs is that they can be worn loose around the neck, or wrapped around tighter for extra warmth.

2. Staring At Stars Lurex Eternity Scarf – £20.00 – Urban Outfitters

This scarf can be worn in a multitude of ways and is very versatile. Slightly thinner material than other scarfs, this one is more to make a statement than to keep you warm. With a hint of metallic in the scarf there is a little shimmer to the fabric. It can be worn as a loop around the neck (left), or can be worn folded and then as a normal draped scarf (right). Also the fact that Anna Brewster (left) one of my favourites, is modelling it makes me love it even more!

3. Tapestry Floral Snood – £12.00 – Topshop

I love the prints on these scarves, with either a feminine pink design, or a more earthy brown option. I love the colours in the pink design and would wear it with everything! They look so cosy, and so cheap!!!

4. Large Ribbed Snood – £12.99 – New Look

This thick knit burgundy snood is a gorgeous colour (and very in this season). The ribbed fabric makes it stand out from other similar designs in the shops, plus it’s a bargain!

5. Snoods – £14.99 – River Island

I love the designs on some of these snoods. The little white and black hearts are adorable (bottom right) and the leopard print is in keeping with this seasons trends (top middle), so you can fit two trends into one garment! Also the navy and grey options will look fab with all outfits, and the red really makes a statement. Definitely one for the Christmas list, if not just a treat for yourself.
